LSF (Light Steel Frame) is a construction method that utilizes cold-formed steel and is becoming increasingly popular in Portugal. The civil construction sector is seeking more and more ways to build faster, more efficiently, and with greater industrialization, aiming to minimize waste in order to make construction more economical and optimize the use and reuse of material resources, characteristics that fit into the new paradigm of sustainability in construction.

LSF construction in Portugal aims to meet the aforementioned requirements and be an excellent alternative to traditional masonry and reinforced concrete construction. The differences between these methods are remarkable, especially in construction speed, which is significantly faster in the LSF system, taking advantage of reduced labor time and shorter waiting times for clients. Moreover, it reduces waste resulting from construction, as the process is more industrially elaborated and promotes greater environmental preservation through partial or fully dry and clean construction methods.

The LSF system requires a large number of structural elements (metal profiles and OSB panels), allowing for more efficient load transmission, resulting in a significantly lower final weight per square meter compared to reinforced concrete solutions. Additionally, LSF houses provide much greater comfort than masonry ones and enable a substantial reduction in energy costs due to their superior thermal performance.
